The Lincolnshire Roads Patrolling Unit stopped a vehicle today on the A1 south of Newark, Lincolnshire and found it to be over 20% overweight. The driver was reported and now has to source a more suitable vehicle for his purposes.

The RPU made the stop after receiving reports that a vehicle was travelling with an excessive load. After stopping the vehicle and weighing it, they found that it was 20% above its legal limit, a total of 4280 kgs. This is a very serious offence which can result in hefty fines for both the driver and their employer.

The driver was reported and will now have to appear before a magistrate. They must also find an appropriate vehicle for their purposes and ensure they adhere to the weight limits.

The Lincolnshire RPU are reminding drivers of the importance of understanding your vehicles’ legal weight limit as well as maintaining them appropriately. Not only can this help you avoid hefty fines, but it can also help keep the roads safe for everyone using them

Drivers must ensure that they understand what weight limit their vehicle can safely carry – if not, there is always a chance that they will be stopped by RPU officers like those who stopped this overweight truck today on the A1 south of Newark in Lincolnshire.

Taking these precautions will ensure that you stay safe while driving and avoid any unnecessary fines or penalties from authorities – always check your load before setting off!
