The Thames Valley Police officers pulled over a Ford Transit Tipper in Oxford City during its  routine checks. The truck was heavily overloaded and had an insecure load.

On failing the roadside breath test, the driver was arrested. At the police station, the driver blew 93 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, on the breathalyser. The legal limit in this state is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The driver also had no valid licence or insurance for the vehicle. The authorities seized the vehicle and took it to a weighbridge, where they found that it was nearly one ton overweight.

As part of their drug and driving test, police in Oxford and Bicester pulled over at least three more drivers throughout the evening and early hours of the morning. All of the drivers were over the legal limit and have been arrested.

Thames Valley Police also reminded people to not drink and drive as it is not only illegal but also puts yourself and others at risk. They are also urging people to make sure their vehicles are roadworthy and safe before driving.
