An operation by Lincolnshire Police Specialist Operations fined several vehicles with overload and insecure load.

The Roads Patrolling Unit (RPU) stopped a fine vessel on M1 near Grantham. The vehicle had an insecure load.  The driver sat on his seatbelt, and wasn’t displaying the rear registration plate. The driver was issued a TOP for multiple offences and was suitably educated.

Another truck near Louth was stopped on A16 near Louth, for carrying gas cylinders as an insecure load. The driver tried to give an excuse saying “we’re not travelling far”, which is not an exemption. The driver was reported for offence and education was given on safe loads.

A third truck was stopped near A153 near Louth due to its unsafe load. Unfortunately, the fitted sheet was not fit for purpose on this size skip, still making it insecure. The rear locking pins were also not attached. The driver was issued a TOR.

Carrying insecure loads is not only dangerous to other road users, but also to the driver and occupants of the vehicle. Please do not carry insecure loads on the roads, as it is dangerous to you, other road users, and also illegal.
