As part of its Operation Dragoon, Northumbria Police caught a truck with excess and insecure load. 

On weighing the vehicle using DVSA mobile weighing plates, the vehicle was found to be 40% over its legal weight limit of 3.5 tonnes.  The excess load was removed and a ticket was issued to the driver.

This was on the same day a joint operation was conducted along with DVSA Enforcement team and the Durham Roads & Armed Policing team with Northumbria Police.

Out of 19 vehicles stopped, 13 were issued with immediate prohibitions, and 3 vehicles were reported for excess weight offences. The following offences were also found : 4 tyre offences; 1 lighting offence, 2 brake defects; 2 driver hours infringements; 1 mobile phone; 1 disqualified driver and 1 insecure load. 

Operation Dragoon is an ongoing Northumbria Police campaign to reassure the public that dangerous and inconsiderate driving will not be tolerated and to tackle trucks with excess and insecure loads.
