The Powys Roads Policing Unit of Wales caught a vehicle carrying hay, loaded with no rear view.

Due to excessive width, the vehicle had no rear view and was obstructing other road users. On weighing, the vehicle was found to be overweight and the driver was reported for offences.  This is an extremely dangerous way to transport hay and puts other road users at risk.

The Powys RPU also seized an HGV failing to comply with ADR carrying 7000 liters of a corrosive chemical. The vehicle had no orange boards, no fire extinguishers, no emergency instructions and no crew safety kit. Apart from these, there was only one strap on each IBC, while the rules clearly say there should be a minimum of two straps. The RPU issued a prohibition.

This is extremely dangerous and can lead to serious accidents. While carrying chemicals,  it is important to follow the right safety procedures to protect yourself and others. Drivers must make sure that their vehicles are compliant with the law and are not putting other road users at risk.
