As part of Operation Tramline, Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit catches two overweight scaffolding vehicles.

A truck carrying poles and other scaffolding goods with an insecure load was stopped by the RPU. On weighing, it was found to be 22% overweight. The driver was reported and the vehicle was prohibited from onward travel until the weight was reduced and the load secured.

Similarly, another overweight scaffold goods vehicle with an insecure load was caught by the RPU near M1 Tibshelf. The vehicle was reported.

In both cases, the drivers were given fixed penalty notices for their offences. These vehicles join the dozens of overweight vehicles caught as part of Operation Tramline in Derbyshire so far this year.

Carrying scaffolding materials on vehicles should be carefully planned to ensure loads are secure and that vehicles do not exceed weight limits. Overweight vehicles put other road users at risk, as well as damage the roads. Derbyshire’s RPU will continue to crack down on such offences as part of Operation Tramline.

The Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit is committed to reducing the number of these types of incidents on our roads and reminds all HGV drivers to adhere to the rules and regulations regarding weight and securing loads. Breaking these rules not only puts other road users at risk, but also results in costly fines for the driver and their company.
