Surrey Police Roads Patrolling Unit stopped a truck on noticing the load on B3001 in Elstead, near Surrey.  The vehicle was stopped by the Commercial Vehicle Unit of the RPU.

On weighing, the truck was found to be 19% overweight. The driver was issued with a graduated fixed penalty and was asked to remove the excess load before continuing the journey. 

This action was taken as part of Surrey Police’s on-going commitment to keeping the county’s roads safe for all users.

Any trucks found to be overweight will be stopped and may be issued with a fine. Drivers are also advised that they could face prosecution if they are caught driving an overweight vehicle 

Drivers of commercial vehicles should check their loads before setting off on a journey, to avoid being caught out and fined. Overloading a vehicle can result in a fine upto £5000 and 3 points on your licence.
