The National Motorcycle Unit, Roads Patrolling Unit (RPU) Edinburgh, and DVSA Enforcement Team conducted a road check at Ingliston and found several vehicles in violation. 31 vehicles were found with offences and were fined.

Of the vehicles stopped and checked, 3 were fined for  Vehicle Excise License (VEL) violations and 1 was clamped. Furthermore, 3 vehicles had no MOT, 2 were overweight (and thus in violation of Scottish law), 2 had no seatbelt (also in violation of Scottish law), 9 had vehicle defects, 1 had a licence offence, 1 had a dangerous load, 7 had immediate prohibitions placed upon them, and 2 had delayed prohibitions placed against them

Clearly, there are some errant motorists out there who need to be brought to heel. The National Motorcycle Unit will continue to work with its partners to ensure that all motorists are compliant with the law.

The next time you’re thinking about skipping your MOT or flouting the law in some other way, think again. You never know when the #NationalMotorcycleUnit will be out on the prowl. Drive safe!
