A team of Shropshire OPU while carrying out a mini operation regarding safer loads and trustworthiness of vehicles caught several vehicles. The operation was conducted at Shifnal Services Junction 4 of M54.

Along with overloaded vehicles, the RPU caught several other offences: defective tyres, brakes and batteries; damaged headlights, etc. The drivers were issued with offence tickets.

This operation was a part of the on-going campaign by Shropshire RPU to make roads safer for everyone. Overloading of vehicles is one of the major causes of accidents on highways and by taking strict action against such offences. It can be fined up to £5000 and 3 points on licence, for overloading a vehicle.

The campaign against overloaded vehicles will continue in coming days too and the RPU is urging all drivers to follow traffic rules and regulations for their own safety as well as others.
