The commercial vehicle unit (CVU) of Sussex Roads Police conducted vehicle checks on the A23 and stopped multiple vehicles. The Sussex Police issued 10 prohibitions. There were 6 overweight vehicles and 9 vehicles with insecure loads. One vehicle had no MOT and only three vehicles with dangerous goods passed the checks.

The operation was conducted on A23 for two consecutive days. Carrying extra load and insecure loads are common problems which are often seen on commercial vehicles. Overweight vehicles put extra strain on roads and infrastructure and also increase emissions. This causes air pollution and is dangerous for both drivers and other road users.

The Sussex Police will continue to carry out these checks in order to keep the roads safe for everyone. It is important that all commercial vehicle drivers  make sure their vehicles are in good condition and loaded correctly and securely.
