A van was seen being driven on the M61 near Preston and was found to be nearly 10% overweight on weighing by Lancashire Roads Police.

The van was found to be driving dangerously due to its weight and unsecured loads by the Team 4 Tac Operations team. The driver has been reported and a fixed penalty has been issued. 

Overweight vans are a danger to other drivers on the road as well as themselves. These vans need to be taken off the road and the drivers given strict penalties in order to ensure public safety. It is important that all vehicle drivers comply with the weight limit of their vehicles and ensure that their loads are secure and safe 

The Team 4 Tac Operations team will continue to patrol the M61 near Preston and take appropriate action against drivers who fail to comply with vehicle weight restrictions. There is a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to reckless driving, unsafe vehicles and overweight enforcement within this areaIt is advised that all drivers ensure that their vehicles are within legal limits and that their loads are secured before continuing on the roads. This will help to keep everyone safe, including themselves.
